Hencote is a family-run vineyard and destination estate in Shropshire, making an unconventional Seyval Blanc sparkling wine since vines went into the ground on the site in 2016.

Named Midland and North Regional Trophy at the WineGB Awards 2026.

Andy and Dora Stevens settled at Hencote in 1997, and their vines began as a 160-vine hobby planting in 2009. What is now called the Vineyard followed in 2016, when the first 18,000 vines went in on south-facing, glacial-till slopes overlooking Shrewsbury, and it has since grown to about 23,000 vines. Managing Director Mark Stevens trained at Plumpton Wine College, and Head Winemaker Gavin Patterson leads the winemaking.
