New Lodge Vineyard

New Lodge Vineyard

New Lodge Vineyard, on the edge of Earls Barton, has grown vines since 2000 and pours its own still and sparkling wines beside a yurt and a small apiary.

New Lodge Vineyard was created in 2000 by Joyce Boulos-Hanna, on horse paddocks near Earls Barton that gave the vines a bed of crumbly, well-drained loam over ironstone on a south-west-facing slope above the Nene Valley. She trained every vine by hand herself, and four generations of her family have worked the vineyard since. Joyce died in 2023, having been named Wine GB's Midlands and North Personality of the Year two years earlier.

Getting there

Travelling from Wellingborough direction, take the exit slip road signposted for Castle Ashby, turn right at the T Junction, take the second exit off the roundabout, and continue straight up the hill — do not turn right into Earls Barton village. Look out for the wooden gate and a large Union Jack flag flying, about a mile from the A45. What3words: tolerates.tinted.bounded.
