Bay Vineyard at Robin Hood’s Bay

Bay Vineyard at Robin Hood’s Bay

Robin Hood's Bay Vineyard is a small coastal vineyard on the North Yorkshire coast, planted in 2017 by Rebecca and Ian Sheveling.

Robin Hood's Bay Vineyard sits above the village of the same name, on the North Yorkshire coast south of Whitby. Rebecca and Ian Sheveling, who also own Holmfirth Vineyard, planted it in 2017 with 20,000 vines: 14,000 Solaris, a white grape, and 6,000 Rondo, a red. Where Holmfirth employs 40 people, Bay is just Ian and Rebecca, with pickers taken on for the September harvest.

Getting there

If using satnav, do not attempt Smay Lane or High Lane, both too narrow -- the drive joins the main B1447 at the corner from Hooks House Campsite, a junction that isn't always shown on satnav.
