Birchden Vineyards is a family-run working farm just outside Groombridge, in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and wine is one of three things it makes, alongside honey and apple juice. The families who co-own it arrived in 2019 and set out to revive the unruly vines and the farmland around them. A walk across the farm passes the beehives and chickens, then the Pinot Noir vineyard, lakes where geese nest, the orchard and a two-acre wildflower meadow, before heading up through the Bacchus field to the Tasting Den. The honey is strained on site, in a purpose-built Honey Cabin.

Tastings without a booking are a self-guided flight of three 75ml pours in the Blackbird Café. Guided vineyard tours, with three wines along the way, are pre-booked online, and afterwards there is time for the Tasting Den, where the wines are sold.
