Black Chalk Wine

Black Chalk Wine

Black Chalk is a winemaker-led sparkling wine estate in Hampshire's Test Valley, its own winery finished within 48 hours of the first harvest in 2020.

Black Chalk began in 2015, when Jacob, its CEO, bought in grapes from other Hampshire producers rather than planting his own vines first. Its own vineyard came later: in 2020 Black Chalk took on the Old Dairy and 12 hectares of established vineyard in the Test Valley, and the on-site winery was finished less than 48 hours before that year's harvest began. Every wine here is a single vintage — nothing is blended across years, so each release reflects the growing season it came from rather than a house recipe.
