Goose Beck Vineyard

Goose Beck Vineyard

A family-run vineyard and winery in the Vale of York, growing mainly disease-resistant PIWI vines, with tours, tastings and holiday cottages on the farm.

Most of the vines at Goose Beck are PIWIs, a German abbreviation for varieties bred and selected for high resistance to fungal diseases. The family chose them believing they would thrive in the North Yorkshire climate, and they need less spraying. The first planting, of approximately 2,000 vines, went in by hand in 2021 with the help of a local vine supplier, and new vines and varieties have been added in the years since. The family farmed sheep before the vines, and the fungicides and fertilisers used on them are certified organic.

Cellar door tastings

By appointment onlyBook online(opens in a new tab)Book direct

Tastings come at the end of a guided tour on set dates: a short walk among the vines, then the winery, then the wines talked through with nibbles in the tasting room, and the patio after if the weather allows. Groups of ten or more can ask about a private tasting. Walk-in tastings are not available.
