Hands Off Vineyard

Hands Off Vineyard

Hands Off is a small vineyard on a working farm near Ross-on-Wye, farmed without fungicide or insecticide, with grapes made into wine off-site and visited only on the farm's seasonal guided walk.

The vineyard sits in an awkward corner of Upper Hollow field at Townsend Farm, on sandy loam on a south-facing slope, enclosed by hedges on all four sides. It had lapsed by the spring of 2020, when Matty decided to make a better effort of it. On 26 September that year, a group of family and friends picked the Regent grapes by hand, starting at 7am and finishing at 5pm with 1.75 tonnes brought in.

Cellar door tastings

By appointment only

No walk-in tastings. Wine from the vineyard is served only on the farm's guided walk (1 May–30 September, booked in advance, 6–12 people), ending with a glass in the garden of the Byres. Private tours by arrangement.
