Hungerhill Farm Vineyard

Hungerhill Farm Vineyard

Hungerhill Vineyard is a Bedfordshire hillside vineyard making traditional method sparkling and still wines under its Merstone label.

Hungerhill Vineyard sits on four hectares on a steep, south-facing hill in Bedfordshire, in clay-rich soil the vineyard says aids ripening and frost drainage. While planting the first vines in 2020, Andrew turned up seashells, ammonites and oyster shells worked into the ground, evidence that this stretch of Bedfordshire lay under a shallow sea around 150 million years ago. The find gave the estate's wine label its name: Merstone, from the French mer and the old name for the nearby village of Marston.
