Rathfinny Wine Estate
Rathfinny is a single-site sparkling wine estate on the South Downs near Alfriston, planted from 2012 on the same chalk band that runs beneath Champagne.
Mark and Sarah Driver bought a working arable farm above Alfriston in 2010 and put the first vines in two years later, on the same band of chalk that runs north from Champagne under the Paris Basin, three miles from the Channel. The vineyard is planted mostly with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, and focuses on traditional method sparkling wine production.
The Cellar Door shop has a tasting bar inside the winery, where a member of the team gives a short complimentary tasting to groups of up to six, subject to availability on arrival. The longer six-wine tasting experience and the tours are booked in advance.

Sussex Wine Tasting Experience
From Alfriston on the A27, the entrance is a driveway on the right, 50 metres past Riverdale House B&B on the village high street. Large vehicles should approach via Seaford and the A26 instead: Alfriston's high street is too narrow for them to pass through.
Nearest station: Seaford Sussex · 2.7 mi
