Renegade London Winery
Renegade is an urban winery in Walthamstow, east London, making experimental wines from grapes sourced across the UK and Europe and pouring them at its own bar and at a second wine bar in Bethnal Green.
Renegade began making wine in Bethnal Green in 2016, following the growers' own instructions for the grapes it bought — what the winery calls its 'copycat' years. In 2017 it changed course, and now makes around twelve to fourteen wines a year, some in classical styles and some the winery says are entirely its own, aged across more than a hundred oak barrels, mostly French with some Hungarian and American. Production moved to a purpose-built winery in Walthamstow in the summer of 2021.
The Walthamstow winery has a bar and kitchen with standing opening hours, a mezzanine level and outdoor seating. A ticketed Saturday tour of the winery ends with a guided tasting of four wines made on site, and the bar is open beforehand. The Bethnal Green wine bar is a separate venue.
