Ryedale Vineyards
Ryedale is one of the UK's most northerly commercial vineyards, run by the Fletcher family at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds near Malton.
Ryedale is one of the most northerly commercial vineyards in the United Kingdom, run by the Fletcher family at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds, seven miles from Malton and a short drive from York and Castle Howard. Jon and Michelle took over the vineyard, in their own words, by accident in 2016, and every stage of making the wine, from pruning to bottling, is still done by hand in a converted cow byre.
Cellar door tastings
Visits are by guided tour and tasting, booked online or by phone, running most Fridays and Saturdays from spring to the end of October, with Christmas tours from October. Wine can also be bought from the cellar door, though it is best to call ahead as staff are often out in the fields.
