A family-run vineyard and winery on Leith Hill in Surrey, with a vineyard café, seasonal tours and tastings, and self-catering holiday barns.
Birkett's Farm, on the southwest-facing slopes of Leith Hill in Surrey, began as a cattle farm dating back to the 16th century, and the same family has owned it since 1826. The first four and a half acres of Pinot Noir went in there in 2020, and a further 12,000 vines followed the next year. The land slopes southwards, and the geology beneath it changes from the greensand of Leith Hill to the clay of the Weald. Tanhurst Estate says it is the only vineyard and winery on the hill. Its winery, converted from an abandoned barn, stands on the farm, so the grapes are pressed within hours of picking.
