Vines of Cheshire

Vines of Cheshire

Vines of Cheshire is a family-run vineyard near Chester, planted on a south-facing slope in 2023 to make still and sparkling wine, with guided tastings by appointment.

Simon and Mandy spent years visiting vineyards abroad, from Australia's Barossa and Hunter valleys to Italy, France and Wales, before deciding to plant their own in Cheshire. Simon's background in geology led the search for land in a county where thick glacial clay drains slowly almost everywhere. They found an exception on a steep, south- and southwest-facing slope near Backford, whose natural drainage and sun exposure suit vines.
