Artelium

Artelium

Artelium is a contemporary wine estate near Hassocks, East Sussex, with two vineyards, a Cellar Door, a restaurant and a mission built on wine and art.

Has taken a medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards in each of the last three editions.

Artelium takes its name from 'art' and '-ium', the Latin suffix for a place where people gather, as in stadium or aquarium — a nod to the estate's own mission to combine winemaking with exhibiting contemporary art and craft. Julie Bretland and Mark Collins founded it on that vision, bringing in winemakers Dermot Sugrue and Owen Elias to make the wine.

Getting there

Streat Lane should be entered via St Helena Lane, to the north of Streat, because of narrow roads. Walkers from Plumpton station are told not to follow Google Maps, which takes them through private property, and to use the estate's written walking directions. Uber drivers will not pick up from the estate, so taxis need pre-booking.
