Black Mountain Vineyard

Black Mountain Vineyard

Black Mountain is an organic, off-grid vineyard and winery in the Herefordshire hills, making low-intervention wine from its own and neighbouring growers' fruit.

Laura and Mark established Black Mountain in 2009, after a friend's mother inherited a field in the Herefordshire hills and asked if they wanted to use it for vines. They found an eight-acre, south-facing slope of clay loam over old red sandstone, in the shadow of the Brecon Beacons between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye.
