Dalwood Vineyard is a small, community-planted vineyard above the village of Dalwood, founded by six villagers in 2009.
Above the village of Dalwood, on a hillside facing west to south-west, six villagers planted the vineyard's first acre of Seyval Blanc in 2009, an idea they had discussed for over a decade, backed by a vine-growing course at Plumpton College. Three more varieties followed a year later, bringing the vineyard to its current three acres and around 3,000 vines. The first crop came in 2013 and was made into a sparkling wine.
Visits are guided vineyard tours booked in advance by email, wandering through the vines with a tasting of the wines to follow. There's no fixed charge, but visitors are asked to pay for what they drink, which usually works out at about £20 a head.
