Gutter & Stars Winery

Gutter&Stars is Cambridge's first urban winery, making wine in the basement of a 170-year-old windmill from grapes bought from growers in Essex, Oxfordshire and Kent.

Gutter&Stars occupies the basement of Chesterton Mill, a Grade II-listed, 170-year-old smock mill less than a mile from central Cambridge — the city's first winery, established in 2020, in a space of just 33m². Winemaker Chris Wilson does not grow his own grapes: he buys fruit from growers in Essex, including in the Crouch Valley, and in Oxfordshire and Kent, a négociant model more usual in Burgundy and Champagne than in England.
