JoJo's Vineyard

JoJo's Vineyard

Above Henley-on-Thames on Chiltern chalk, a boutique vineyard offers guided tastings and a wine bar among the vines by booking.

Named after JoJo, the owners' dog, the vineyard sits in the Chiltern Hills above Henley-on-Thames on Lewes Nodular, Seaford and Newhaven chalk, laid down in shallow tropical seas 72 to 94 million years ago from the compressed shells of microscopic marine organisms called coccoliths — the material the estate says also gives Champagne its character.

Bookings are required — a licence condition means walk-ups can't be served at Paddy's Wine Bar or a guided tasting. A relaxed, seated tasting through all three JoJo's wines is led by the owners; the wine bar is an unguided pop-up among the vines.
