Llanerch Vineyard
Cariad wine is sold only through Llanerch's own restaurant and rooms, at this vineyard hotel in the Vale of Glamorgan.
In 1989, as Peter and Diane prepared to bottle their first vintage for their eldest daughter's wedding, they named it Cariad, Welsh for love — the name Llanerch's wine still carries. The land had been a working farm since before 1970, centred on a three-bedroom farmhouse on its original 22 acres.
Wine tasting is a ticketed experience, arriving 15 minutes early to collect tickets and led by one of the vineyard's own team, with a self-guided walk around the vines included in winter. No wine is sold to browse or taste without booking a tasting or a table.
Llanerch is two minutes' drive from Junction 34 of the M4.
