Mereworth Wines
Mereworth Wines makes traditional method sparkling wine in a converted Kent hop oast, with a winery bar, kitchen and terrace open to drop-in visitors.
Brewers Hall used to be a working farm. Its oast took in hops from the fields to be dried, cooled and pressed, and apples came from the neighbouring orchards. The estate says George Orwell was among the hundreds of pickers who worked there. The oast, beneath the spire of Mereworth Church, was renovated from 2017 and converted into the winery. The bar, kitchen and shop now share the building with production, so the wines are drunk in the rooms where they are made. Beside them are a terrace, a barn hired out for markets, exhibitions and wellness classes, and a small room called the Cellar Door, between the main winery and the production room.
The winery has rail links to London Victoria, London Bridge and other London stations, and to towns across Kent. Several walking and cycling routes run close by.
