Silverhand Estate
Silverhand is an organic vineyard on chalk and clay in the Kent village that shares its name, pouring wine by the glass from its cellar door most days of the week.
Silverhand grows organically on chalky flint soils over Kimmeridge clay, the same seam that continues south into Champagne around Épernay and Reims. The estate sits in the Kent village of Luddesdown and takes its name from King Ludd, a legendary first-century king said to have lost his hand in battle and worn a silver one in its place ever after.
The cellar door and wine bar pour by the glass or bottle alongside charcuterie and cheese boards; a five-wine guided tasting with a trained member of staff can also be booked, and the barn is given over to occasional tasting and pairing evenings.
