Smith And Evans Wines

Smith And Evans Wines

Smith & Evans is a small Somerset vineyard on limestone slopes near Langport, open on Saturdays for walk-in tastings, with guided vineyard tours by prior booking.

Smith & Evans planted Higher Plot Farm's vineyard in 2008, after a four-year search for a site with the right soil for sparkling wine. It sits on White Lias Limestone above calcareous clay and loam, well drained and south-facing, between 22 and 27 metres above sea level. Burgundian Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier vines went in, and the first harvest followed in 2010.
