Wayford Vineyard is a Somerset co-operative planted by ten village couples in 2007, making a sparkling Pinot Noir matured on the lees.
Wayford Vineyard began in April 2007, when ten couples from the village of Wayford, on the Somerset/Dorset border three miles from Crewkerne, planted 3,500 Pinot Noir vines in a single week. For the next few years, the same couples took turns tending a section each: pruning, mowing, repairing posts and wire, and weeding.
