Thorrington Mill Vineyard is a family-run, 12-acre coastal vineyard near Colchester in Essex, planted in 2018.
Thorrington Mill Vineyard takes its name from Mill Farm, home to one of only three working tide mills left in the country. Mark and Polly took on the family farm in 2018, planting 12 acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Bacchus on south-facing slopes at sea level, on the edge of the Colne Estuary near Colchester. Sheep graze between the rows -- a small flock of Shropshire sheep, chosen for their ability to work the vine spacing.
Cellar door tastings
The cellar door is a walk-in coffee, cake and wine stop. Tastings and tours available through a pre-booked guided tour of the vines.
