Chartham Vineyard

Chartham Vineyard

A family-run vineyard above the River Stour near Canterbury, on land recorded for vine-growing more than 700 years before the present vines went in.

Chartham sits above the River Stour, three miles outside Canterbury, on a farm that has been in owner Roz Waller's family for 70 years. Her vineyard, planted in 2013, began 710 years after Prior Henry of Eastry first recorded one on the same stretch of the Stour valley — a modern chapter of a much older story rather than a new one.

Cellar door tastings

Open to walk-ins

Free walk-in tastings run from the vineyard shop, in a converted cow shed beside a 17th-century barn and dovecote, with the family often behind the counter themselves. A separate guided vineyard tour, ending in a tasting in the barn, needs booking ahead.
