Coates and Seely is a sparkling wine estate near Whitchurch, Hampshire, founded on chalk downland by two friends in 2008.
Nicholas Coates and Christian Seely, friends with careers in finance and winemaking, planted vines in a secluded Hampshire valley near Whitchurch in 2008, on chalk soils. The valley lies within sight of Watership Down, and the chalk stream of the River Test runs along its floor. A small vineyard had already stood on the site, serving the local community for decades before them.
