English Oak Vineyard

English Oak Vineyard

A family vineyard in the Purbeck region of Dorset, near Poole, making traditional-method sparkling wine, with owner-led vineyard tours and tastings.

Andrew and Sarah studied viticulture at Plumpton College in Sussex before taking on their Dorset site, and planted the vineyard in 2007. Sarah brought experience in horticulture and Andrew a background in catering, marketing and business development. In the vineyard's formative years the winemaker Dermot Sugrue advised on the wine, and the winemaking is now shared with Marcus and Megan Rayner in the winery. The planting takes in 14 different clones and rootstocks of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. The site is in the Purbeck region of Dorset and has a distinctive bowl shape.
