Fenny Castle Vineyard

Fenny Castle Vineyard

Fenny Castle Vineyard grows Pinot Noir and Ortega on a Site of Special Scientific Interest above the Somerset Levels, in sight of Glastonbury Tor.

Named Best Blanc de Noirs at the WineGB Awards 2026.

Fenny Castle Vineyard stands on a hill above the Somerset Levels whose geology earned it Site of Special Scientific Interest status: Tea Green marl and red marl divided by a rare layer of the mineral Celestine. James and Gill Cumming, who had farmed sheep on the land since 2005, prepared the ground by deep-ripping it to seventy centimetres, working in two hundred tonnes of cow manure, and driving in five hundred posts by hand, before planting the first parcel of Bacchus in 2011 and the main Ortega and Pinot Noir vineyard the following year.
