Stopham Vineyard

Stopham Vineyard

Stopham Vineyard grows sand-soil vines in the South Downs National Park, making precision-tracked still and sparkling wines, with tours most Saturdays through the season.

Vines at Stopham grow on free-draining sand in the South Downs National Park, with roots reaching more than six metres into the ground once established. Most of the estate's own-grown fruit goes into still white wines from Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois and Bacchus, with a sparkling wine made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Winemaking runs through a closed-loop system that tracks fermentation by carbon dioxide sensors in real time, and bottles are sealed under screw cap rather than cork.

Cellar door tastings

By appointment only

Tours run most Saturdays, April to September, led by Victoria. The group walks to a converted Victorian barn winery for a tasting of up to three still wines and one sparkling. There is no walk-in tasting. Visits are by booking only.
