Autumn Walk and Lunch at The Mount Vineyard
11:00

The Mount Vineyard
A chalk vineyard in the Kent village of Shoreham, reached on foot from the station, with a courtyard restaurant, a wine shop and hosted tastings all year.
Simon Greenwood came across The Mount on a weekend away from Clapham. The estate's own account has him arriving by train in Shoreham, where the hills of the Darent Valley stretch above the village, and walking in past its Norman church. He bought the property in 2011. The Mount began welcoming guests in 2016. The vineyard neighbours the Grade I listed church of St Peter and St Paul, and a wedding held there can walk through the vines to its reception.
Still and sparkling flights are poured at the Ten Acres Shop from May to September with no booking. Hosted tastings with a cheeseboard run on set sessions, on the Oak Terrace in summer and in the Wine Loft upstairs in winter. Booking is advised, and spare places go on the day. Adults only.

On foot from the station, steps lead down to Station Road, and a path runs along the edge of a field and through the churchyard onto Church Street, opposite The Samuel Palmer pub. The vineyard's driveway is about 100 yards further along on the right, between a bungalow and a large white house. By car, Station Road leads into the village and round a sharp corner with the pub on the left.
