White Heron Estate
White Heron makes its sparkling wine by the Charmat method on a 150-year Herefordshire blackcurrant farm, with no walk-in cellar door — only a booked vineyard walk, or a stay in one of its cottages.
White Heron makes its sparkling wine by the Charmat method, the tank process used for prosecco, from Seyval Blanc, Madeleine Angevine and Reichensteiner grown across 35 acres of the estate — a departure from the traditional bottle fermentation most English sparkling relies on. The vineyard is the newest addition to a farm the Green family has worked since 1863, best known until now for British Cassis, the blackcurrant liqueur it has grown, picked and blended on site for 150 years.
No walk-in tasting: wine is poured only at the end of a pre-booked guided walk through the vines, for groups of ten or more, or as a paid add-on for guests staying in one of the estate's cottages.
