Babu's Vineyard

Babu's Vineyard

Babu's is a small, family-run vineyard and winery in Weston Longville, open for guided tours and tastings by appointment.

Babu's takes its name from the Swahili word for grandfather, a title that has been in Peter Ross's family since 2004. He planted the vines in the village of Weston Longville in 2009, choosing Solaris and Rondo — grape varieties bred for the cooler climate of northern Germany and Denmark, which do well in the same conditions here. Solaris goes into the white wines, and Rondo into the rosé and red. The estate says it may be the first vineyard planted in the area in a thousand years, since the Domesday survey.
