Barnsole Vineyard

Barnsole Vineyard

Barnsole is a boutique Kent vineyard opposite the Roman fort of Richborough, selling its sparkling, red and white wine directly from the winery door.

Barnsole looks out across the flats to the Roman fort of Richborough; the estate says Pinot Noir vines first reached England with the Legions who landed there in AD44, two thousand years before its own were planted. The vineyard's loam soil over Thanet Sand still turns up relics from later centuries: Napoleonic buttons, musket balls and clay pipes dropped by farm hands long gone.
